LEVEL 4 APPRENTICESHIP
INFORMATION FOR STUDIOS

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN A NETWORK OF STUDIOS TAKING PART IN DELIVERING AN EXCITING NEW APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME.

  • MAS Records is the first organisation in the UK to offer the new Assistant Recording Technician Apprenticeship.

  • You will receive a £3000 incentive for each apprentice taken on before the end of September 2021

  • Apprentices will spend 4 days a week in the studio (minimum 24 hours in total) and one day a week (6 hours) with MAS Online for off the job training.

  • The apprenticeship will last for 24 months

  • For the first 12 months apprentices can be paid an hourly rate of £4.30 (minimum apprenticeship wage) and the final 12 months at national minimum wage (you may offer more than both these rates at your discretion)

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

  • Hire an apprentice - this could be an assistant you already have that is interested in the scheme.

  • Allocate them a minimum of 24hrs a week in the studio.

  • Enable them to learn the essential skills required. These can be found here under 'KSBs'. The MAS online delivery will teach the 'Behaviour' element of the KSBs - you will teach the apprentice the 'Knowledge' and 'Skills' elements.

  • Pay the apprentice rate (£4.30) for the first 12 months and the National Minimum Wage for the following 12 months (you may offer more than both these rates at your discretion).

  • Provide feedback on their progress and an assessment of their abilities, with regular progress reviews every 6-8 weeks (MAS staff will visit your studios to facilitate this with you).

HOW

  • Every Monday apprentices will have 6 hours of tutor led online content by MAS Records. The remaining weekly hours (minimum 24 hours) can be distributed as you see fit to suit your schedule and clients.
  • You can extend hours as necessary to suit your business needs.

When

  • Apprentices will be signed up before the end of September 2021 and can begin working the studio immediately.
  • The MAS online training will begin slightly later (October/November 2021).

Why

  • Take on effective employees at apprentice rates.

  • Unique off the job training with special guests from the MAS network such as Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele, Metallica, Jay-Z) and Davey Warsop (Foo Fighters, Green Day, Weezer).

  • Paid opportunities for studio owners/staff to guest lecture online with other apprentices signed up to the scheme, creating a networked learning environment.

  • You have discretion as to how the key skills are taught and the best processes to use, which will provide you with opportunity to train an assistant in the most effective way for your business.

  • We will provide a networking forum for exchange of info and contacts between studios.

  • Networking is KEY - Any contacts the apprentice makes with our guest lecturers, for example, can be fed back into your own business network.
